Job Title: Senior Smart-Home Technician

Our client is one of Calgarys largest premier custom residential integrators, designing and delivering luxury home automation systems for exclusive residential properties. We are seeking a seasoned, highly polished Smart-Home Technician to join their field operations team. In this role, you will lead the physical installation, rack fabrication, system calibration, network setup, and final commissioning of complex, multi-system residential projects while serving as the primary on-site point of contact for clients.
Responsibilities:
- Documentation & Blueprints: Thoroughly read, interpret, and execute work based on architectural blueprints, electrical schematics, reflected ceiling plans, wire drop schedules, and system signal flow diagrams.
- Network Deployment & Remote Access: Configure, deploy, and troubleshoot complex residential networks, including managed switches, VLANs, wireless access points, and firewalls. Set up and maintain secure VPNs to support remote system management and off-site troubleshooting.
- Custom Installation & Fabrication: Perform structural mounting into complex materials (river rock, custom tile, masonry, finished woodwork) without compromising aesthetics. Execute rough-in pre-wiring, post-sheetrock wire fishing, retrofitting Cat6 lines, and clean surface finishing.
- System Infrastructure: Build, wire, label, and dress complex floor-standing and wall-mounted equipment racks to high aesthetic standards.
- Audio, Video & Theater Integration: Install and configure audio matrix routing, Dolby Atmos surround systems, high-end 2-channel audio, and perform precise projector and screen alignments and calibrations.
- Smart Home Integration: Deploy and integrate full-scope smart home ecosystems spanning lighting control, automated window treatments, HVAC/climate, and residential security systems.
- Client Handover & Technical Delivery: Walk clients through final system operations, custom interface layouts, and scene adjustments. Provide a clear, professional, and patient onboarding experience.
Qualifications:
- Minimum 5 years of hands-on experience in residential AV integration and automation.
- Certifications: Active manufacturer certifications such as Lutron (Homeworks / RadioRA 3), Vantage, URC, Nice, or equivalent platforms.
- Control Platforms: Demonstrated working familiarity with URC, Nice (formerly Elan), and related smart home ecosystems.
- Technical Proficiency: Deep working knowledge of Dolby Atmos design, video projection/display calibration, digital audio matrixing, and signal distribution
- Networking Expertise: Extensive experience in network design, configuration, and troubleshooting (VLANs, managed switches, access points, firewalls) as well as strong proficiency with VPN setup and remote diagnostics.
- Blueprints & Schematics: Strong capability in reading and interpreting architectural plans, CAD drawings, and technical schematics.
- Physical & Site Mastery: Advanced knowledge of structural building materials, safe mounting hardware, and non-destructive wire-fishing techniques in finished homes.
- Soft Skills: Impeccable communication skills with a polished, professional demeanor tailored to high-end client interactions.
- Valid driver's license and a reliable vehicle (required).
