Job Description

Our client, a well-capitalized digital infrastructure owner and operator, is seeking a Director, Operations and Construction. This direct-hire leadership role oversees field deployment, capital project execution, and operational performance across large-scale network builds.

The company builds and holds long-term digital infrastructure assets—including macro cell towers, OSP fibre optic networks, and specialized telecom facilities—leased to major national service providers. We are looking for a commercially driven operational leader to manage multi-site construction programs while maintaining strict financial discipline.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Program Execution & Capital Control: Direct end-to-end construction for wireless towers, outside plant (OSP) fibre deployment, and associated telecom facilities, enforcing strict budget controls to maximize long-term asset value.

  • Supply Chain & Vendor Strategy: Establish owner-side procurement strategies. Structure vendor contracts, milestone payments, and performance incentives to align third-party contractors with project schedules and financial targets.

  • Lifecycle Asset Management: Oversee long-term operational maintenance protocols and tracking systems to ensure portfolio durability and continuous network uptime.

  • Team Leadership & Operations: Scale, mentor, and direct the field operations and construction engineering teams, establishing clear KPIs and scalable operational workflows.

  • Strategic & Financial Alignment: Partner with senior executives across finance, legal, and corporate strategy to integrate construction delivery with capital allocation plans and client commitments.

Qualifications:

  • 10+ years of experience in wireline (fibre) and/or wireless telecommunications construction or large-scale civil infrastructure management.

  • Client/Owner-Side Experience: Demonstrated history managing procurement, contractor selection, and capital budgeting from the owner side (rather than solely vendor-side).

  • Commercial & Financial Acumen: Deep understanding of project economics, expenditure tracking, and cost-control strategies on capital-intensive builds.

  • Execution Track Record: Proven background delivering multi-site infrastructure builds on aggressive deployment timelines.

  • Team Management: Strong history of leading high-accountability engineering and field execution teams.

  • Mobility & Travel: Ability and willingness to travel regularly to active build sites across Canada as required.

  • Education: Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Construction Management, or equivalent practical industry experience.
