Job Description
Our client, a leading company in its industry, is seeking a detail-oriented Accounting Clerk to support daily accounting operations and ensure accurate financial recordkeeping. This role is ideal for an organized professional who enjoys working with financial data, maintaining accurate records, and contributing to the smooth operation of the finance department.
Key Responsibilities
- Process daily Accounts Payable and Accounts Receivable transactions, ensuring invoices, payments, and financial records are accurately recorded.
- Perform regular bank, credit card, and account reconciliations to maintain financial accuracy.
- Assist with month-end and year-end accounting activities, including journal entries, account schedules, and supporting documentation.
- Maintain organized financial records, spreadsheets, and supporting documentation for reporting and audit purposes.
- Support budgeting and forecasting activities by gathering financial data and preparing reports as required.
- Monitor financial transactions and identify discrepancies or unusual variances for further review.
- Assist with tax preparation, regulatory filings, and compliance-related documentation.
- Support internal and external audit processes by compiling and organizing required records.
- Ensure compliance with company policies, accounting procedures, and internal controls.
- Collaborate with finance and other departments to support operational and reporting requirements.
Qualifications
- Degree or Diploma in Accounting, Finance, Business Administration, or a related field.
- Minimum of 5 years of experience in an accounting, bookkeeping, or finance support role.
- Direct experience working within the Canadian accounting landscape and Perpetual Inventory Systems
- Strong understanding of basic accounting principles, reconciliations, and financial recordkeeping.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Excel, including formulas, lookups, and data analysis functions.
- Experience using accounting software and ERP systems.
- Familiarity with month-end close processes, accounts payable, and accounts receivable functions.
- Pursuing or holding a professional accounting designation is considered an asset.
- Strong attention to detail with excellent organizational and time-management skills.
- Ability to manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
- Excellent communication skills and a collaborative, team-oriented mindset.
