Job Description

Our client, a reputable player in the manufacturing sector, is looking for a detail-oriented Scaler to oversee log yard operations and ensure accurate inventory and quality control of raw materials.

Shift: Afternoon

Key Responsibilities

Log Scaling & Yard Management

• Scale logs and accurately identify wood species
• Manage log yard operations to optimize production flow
• Monitor and maintain accurate inventory levels
• Ensure quality standards for incoming and stored materials
• Utilize inventory/log management systems (e.g., LIMS or similar)

Operations & Reporting

• Purchase supplies and maintenance materials as needed
• Prepare production and inventory reports
• Coordinate with suppliers and track procurement activities
• Support continuous improvement initiatives
• Assist in operational programs and compliance activities

Health & Safety

• Support health and safety programs through inspections and training
• Develop and maintain work instructions and procedures

Qualifications

• Experience in log scaling or similar field operations role
• Strong ability to identify and classify materials (e.g., wood species)
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office, especially Excel
• Experience with inventory or log management systems is an advantage
• Ability to operate heavy equipment is a plus
• Bilingual skills (French/English) are an asset but not required
