Job Description

Our client is seeking an IT Operations & Portfolio Analyst to join their Technology organization and support the Office of the CIO. This is a hands-on individual contributor role designed for someone who thrives at the intersection of data, operations, finance, and technology delivery. You will be the analytical engine behind IT portfolio governance—transforming financial, delivery, and capacity data into clear, executive ready insights. You will also play a key role in modernizing how IT operations work by leveraging AI Copilot and automation tools to reduce manual effort, improve decision making, and scale operational excellence. This role is ideal for someone who enjoys deep analysis, structured problem solving, and using AI as a force multiplier, not just a reporting tool.

Responsibilities:

Portfolio & Delivery Analytics

  • Maintain accurate, high quality portfolio data across project, financial, and delivery systems
  • Analyze project status, risks, dependencies, and delivery trends to surface actionable insights
  • Synthesize detailed project information into concise, executive ready summaries and dashboards
  • Support portfolio roadmapping by validating capacity, sequencing, and funding assumptions

Financial & Capacity Analysis

  • Analyze IT spend, forecasts, recoverability, and headcount data to identify trends, risks, and optimization opportunities
  • Support accurate classification and tracking of CapEx and OpEx across initiatives
  • Build and maintain financial models and tracking tools that improve transparency and reduce manual reporting
  • Partner closely with Finance to validate data and proactively flag variances or issues

AI Copilot–Enabled Optimization

  • Leverage Microsoft Copilot (Excel, PowerPoint, Word, SharePoint, Teams) to:
    • Draft and refine executive summaries, status narratives, and reporting commentary
    • Rapidly synthesize large volumes of operational and financial data
    • Accelerate creation of presentations and governance artifacts
    • Design and continuously improve AI assisted reporting and analysis workflows
    • Identify repetitive, manual tasks and propose AI  or automation based solutions
    • Act as a power user and advocate for practical, responsible AI adoption within IT operations

Governance & Process Enablement

  • Support governance reviews and audits by preparing reports, evidence, and documentation
  • Maintain standardized templates, workflows, and reporting artifacts
  • Help ensure consistent use of portfolio tools and reporting standards across delivery teams
  • Support structured documentation and information management practices

Qualifications:

  • 5+ years of experience in IT operations, PMO, portfolio analytics, or financial analysis
  • Strong analytical skills with the ability to interpret complex data and explain it clearly
  • Advanced proficiency in Excel (financial modeling, pivot tables, Power Query)
  • Experience working with project or portfolio management tools
  • Experience building dashboards or structured reporting packs
  • Hands‑on experience using Microsoft Copilot or similar AI tools in a professional setting
  • Ability to craft effective prompts and refine AI‑generated outputs
  • Comfort validating AI insights rather than accepting them at face value
  • Curiosity and initiative to experiment with AI to improve efficiency and quality
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills with executive‑level polish
  • High attention to detail and a strong sense of ownership
