Job Description

Our client is an established and growing company seeking an Electrical Engineering Lead to join their team. This is a DIRECT HIRE role and an excellent long-term career opportunity for a senior professional looking to step into a technical authority and mentorship position.

The Role

As the Electrical Engineering Lead, you will serve as the technical authority for complex Multi-Family Residential, Commercial, and Industrial building projects, as well as subdivision developments. You will oversee the full project lifecycle—from initial concept through construction—ensuring high-quality designs, code compliance, and practical, buildable solutions. This role offers the opportunity to provide technical direction and mentorship to a growing team of designers and EITs.

Key Responsibilities

  • Technical Leadership: Act as the lead for Multi-Family Residential, Commercial, and Industrial building projects, as well as municipal land development.

  • Engineering Design: Oversee power distribution, lighting layouts, fire alarm/life safety systems, and standby power (UPS/generators).

  • Subdivision Design: Lead low- and medium-voltage distribution systems, streetlighting, and communications networks for large-scale land developments.

  • Quality Assurance: Review and stamp drawings and specifications, ensuring all deliverables meet internal QA/QC standards and the Canadian Electrical Code (CEC).

  • Project Coordination: Liaise with the City of Edmonton, EPCOR, and other authorities; coordinate with internal civil, structural, and mechanical teams.

  • Mentorship: Coach junior staff, review their work, and contribute to the development of design standards.

Qualifications

  • Education: Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering.

  • Certification: Professional Engineer (P.Eng.) registered and in good standing with APEGA.

  • Industry Expertise: 5–10+ years of consulting electrical engineering experience, with strong building design expertise across the Multi-Family, Commercial, and Industrial sectors.

  • Technical Knowledge: Expertise in the Canadian Electrical Code (CEC), Alberta Building Code, and Municipal standards (City of Edmonton and EPCOR requirements).

  • Software: Proficiency in AutoCAD; experience with Revit and lighting calculation software is highly preferred.

  • Mindset: A practical, construction-focused approach with the ability to lead client meetings and act as a trusted advisor.

What’s Offered

  • Competitive salary and comprehensive benefits package.

  • A leadership role in shaping and growing a regional team.

  • Opportunities to work on diverse, high-impact projects across Alberta and Canada.
