Job Description
Job Title: Solution Architect / Tech Lead
Location: Downtown Toronto (1x per week on-site)
Duration: 12 months (with chance to extend or convert to Permanent Employee)
This is a high-impact, strategic contract role at one of Canada’s "Big Five" financial institutions. You will serve as the technical visionary and execution lead for a high-profile project: building a modern data warehouse and high-performance API layer to power a next-generation advisor portal and public-facing website. As the Architect / Lead, you will bridge the gap between complex data engineering and executive strategy, defining how data flows from disparate market sources into a unified Azure ecosystem that empowers advisors with real-time fund performance metrics.
Responsibilities:
- Architectural Strategy: Lead the design and implementation of a scalable data warehouse on Azure Databricks, ensuring it meets the rigorous security and compliance standards of a major bank.
- API Ecosystem Design: Architect and oversee the build of RESTful APIs (JSON) and microservices that serve as the backbone for the advisor portal and website.
- Data Integration & Automation: Design end-to-end automated pipelines using Azure Data Factory (ADF) to ingest, validate, and transform market data.
- Executive Leadership: Act as the primary technical point of contact for stakeholders, translating complex technical roadmaps into business value for executive leadership.
- Governance & Validation: Establish frameworks for data validation and quality assurance to ensure fund performance data is 100% accurate before it reaches downstream consumers.
Qualifications:
- Mastery of Azure Databricks and Azure Data Factory (ADF)
- Deep expertise in Microservices architecture, RESTful API design, and JSON schema management.
- Industry experience within a Financial Institution or Investment Firm. You must understand Asset Management (Fund performance, NAVs, benchmarks, etc)
- Advanced knowledge of Star/Snowflake schemas and Medallion architecture (Bronze/Silver/Gold).
- Proven ability to liaise with executive-level stakeholders and lead cross-functional engineering teams.
