Location: Toronto, Hybrid (onsite downtown 3x per week)
Contract: 6 months to start
Our client, a leading Canadian pension company, is seeking a talented and experienced Business Intelligence (BI) Developer to join their technology team. You'll play a crucial role in transforming raw data into meaningful insights, supporting key business decisions that impact the financial security of thousands of Canadians. The ideal candidate is a skilled BI Developer who is passionate about data and has a strong background in data warehousing and business intelligence, with a focus on delivering high-quality, actionable insights through reporting and visualization.
Key Responsibilities:
- Develop and maintain BI solutions, reports, and dashboards using Power BI.
- Write and optimize complex SQL queries (including joins, subqueries, stored procedures, and functions) to extract, transform, and load data from various sources including Snowflake.
- Collaborate with stakeholders to gather requirements, define key performance indicators (KPIs), and translate business needs into technical specifications.
- Design, develop, and maintain data models and data pipelines.
- Integrate and manage data from various sources, including APIs.
- Troubleshoot and resolve data-related issues and performance bottlenecks.
- Ensure data security and compliance with company policies and industry regulations.
Qualifications
- Proven experience as a Business Intelligence (BI) Developer or in a similar role.
- Expertise in SQL, with a deep understanding of complex queries, stored procedures, functions, and performance tuning.
- Hands-on experience with Power BI for creating interactive dashboards and reports.
- Experience with cloud-based data warehouses like Snowflake.
- Familiarity with various database systems such as SQL Server, Oracle, etc.
- Knowledge of API integrations and how to extract data from RESTful APIs.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Excellent communication skills with the ability to explain complex technical concepts to non-technical stakeholders.
