Job Description

Contract Duration: 12 Months (Option to convert to Full Time)
Work Schedule:

Primarily weekday schedule with occasional after-hours and weekend work for maintenance and critical activities and F5 to AVI conversation.

Job Summary:

We are seeking a skilled Network Engineer for a 12-month contract to support and enhance our network and load balancing infrastructure. This role requires hands-on expertise with VMware NSX, AVI Load Balancer (VMware NSX Advanced Load Balancer), F5 BIG-IP, and Cisco Nexus 9000 (N9K) and Catalyst series switches. The position involves engineering project work, supporting operations team, and scheduled or part of changes that may require occasional after-hours and weekend activities.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Deploy, configure, and maintain VMware NSX environments, including distributed firewalls and logical routing.
  • Manage AVI Load Balancer infrastructure including virtual services, pools, and profiles.
  • Configure and troubleshoot F5 BIG-IP systems, including LTM, GTM/DNS, SSL certificates, and iRules.
  • Administer and troubleshoot Cisco Nexus 9000 (NX-OS) and Catalyst switches for enterprise environments.
  • Support Layer 2/Layer 3 networking, VXLAN, VPC, and dynamic routing (OSPF, BGP, EVPN).
  • Participate in scheduled network maintenance, upgrades, and migrations, often during after-hours or weekends.
  • Monitor and optimize network performance, address incidents, and drive resolutions.
  • Collaborate closely with Security, Cloud, and Application teams to ensure seamless network integration.
  • Maintain clear documentation of configurations, procedures, and network diagrams.

Required Skills and Qualifications:

  • 5+ years of experience in enterprise network engineering roles.
  • Strong hands-on knowledge of VMware NSX, AVI Load Balancer, and F5 BIG-IP platforms.
  • Expertise with Cisco Nexus 9000 and Catalyst switches, including advanced Layer 2/3 features.
  • Deep understanding of TCP/IP, VLANs, VXLAN, dynamic routing protocols (BGP, OSPF), and MPLS fundamentals.
  • Experience with network automation tools (e.g., Ansible, Python) is a plus.
  • Strong problem-solving skills and ability to work independently during off-hours activities.
  • Excellent communication skills and a commitment to detailed documentation and change management.

Preferred Certifications:

  • VMware VCP-NV (Network Virtualization)
  • F5 Certified Administrator (F5-CA)
  • Cisco CCNP (Enterprise or Data Center)

Other Requirements:

  • Availability for occasional after-hours and weekend work.
  • Ability to manage tasks and priorities independently, including during maintenance windows and urgent escalations.
