Job Description

A national non-profit organization dedicated to improving healthcare outcomes is undertaking a pivotal enterprise system transformation to strengthen operations and scale impact. As part of this effort, the organization is mobilizing people, knowledge, and proven approaches to drive meaningful change in the healthcare sector.

The Fractional Director, System Implementation will bring senior-level expertise to ensure that new systems are strategically aligned with organizational operations and business objectives. This role is essential for positioning the organization to advance its mission with greater efficiency and reach.

Duties & Responsibilities

This role supplements the internal IT function, focusing on the execution of the enterprise platform transformation. Working in close partnership with the Director of Information Technology & Knowledge Management and cross-functional teams, the successful candidate will provide strategic and technical leadership during a critical phase of organizational change.

Key responsibilities include:

  • Deliver strategic guidance and hands-on expertise in enterprise technology, system implementation, and change management.

  • Lead business modernization efforts to ensure technology solutions meet operational needs and long-term goals.

  • Oversee third-party partner contributions and ensure adherence to architectural, functional, and scheduling requirements.

  • Manage vendor relationships for the next phase of system implementation, including performance tracking and issue resolution.

  • Ensure on-time, on-budget delivery in collaboration with internal stakeholders and external vendors.

  • Identify and mitigate implementation risks.

  • Advise on sustainable technology resourcing models and future operational support structures.

  • Support internal readiness and staff adoption of new systems and workflows.

  • Recommend governance models for ongoing platform optimization and automation.

  • Serve as a strategic thought partner to senior leadership, offering insights rooted in deep implementation experience.

Education & Experience

  • Post-secondary degree in information systems, computer science, business administration, or a related field; graduate degrees or certifications (e.g., PMP, PROSCI, ITIL) are assets.

  • Minimum 10 years of experience leading enterprise system implementations or digital transformation initiatives.

  • Strong background in systems architecture, integration, and lifecycle management, including cloud-based solutions.

  • Proven leadership, facilitation, and communication abilities.

  • Ability to work independently while fostering collaboration with internal and external teams.

  • Experience working within nonprofit, public sector, or mission-driven organizations is a strong asset.
