Job Description

Our client in the banking industry is seeking a Risk Management Associate to join their team in downtown Toronto. This full-time, permanent role will support the identification, analysis, and mitigation of risks across the organization. The position follows a hybrid work model, with 3–4 days per week in the office.

The successful candidate will support the Risk team with tasks like analyzing credit risk data, organizing and preparing information, creating reports and presentations, and helping with other projects or tasks as needed.

Roles and Responsibilities

  • Work with the Risk Management team on key projects and initiatives to help identify, assess, and reduce risks across the organization.

  • Review and analyze credit risk portfolios, focusing on credit quality, risk concentration, and overall performance.
  • Complete ad-hoc reporting tasks, including creating presentations and reports for senior leadership and regulators.
  • Prepare, organize, clean, and analyze data to support activities such as stress testing, scenario analysis, and regulatory reporting.
  • Help update and improve risk management policies, procedures, and frameworks to meet regulatory requirements and industry standards.
  • Other duties as required.

Qualifications and Skills

  • A degree or a diploma in a related field.
  • 4–5 years of experience in risk management, ideally within commercial banking, consulting firms, or smaller/international financial institutions.
  • Excellent analytical skills with the ability to interpret complex data and clearly communicate insights and recommendations.
  • Advanced Excel skills, including experience with macros, along with proficiency in other data analysis tools such as SQL, Python, Power BI, and Tableau.
  • Strong communication skills, both verbal and written. 
  • Knowledge of banking regulations, regulatory guidelines and risk management practices.
