Job Description

We are seeking a skilled and experienced Data Architect/Developer for a 6-month term to join our client’s team. This role has high chance for extension.

This role offers the opportunity to work with cutting-edge Azure technologies and contribute to impactful data solutions within the transit sector.

This will be a hybrid role with 2 days a week onsite in their downtown Toronto office.

Responsibilities:

  • Design, implement, and support business intelligence solutions to address diverse business information needs.
  • Develop and maintain custom query applications to analyze critical business data effectively.
  • Enable guided data analysis, drill-down functionality, and automated notifications for scheduled reports and alerts for key trends or opportunities.
  • Provide strategic recommendations and tools for managing business data to support quantitative analysis, progress tracking, and operational impact evaluation.
  • Analyze source system data to identify and resolve data quality issues, such as missing values, duplicate records, and invalid entries.

Requirements:

  • 6+ years’ experience in progressively complex roles, utilizing Azure Data Lake, Databricks, SQL, Power BI, and data integration tools.
  • Strong development and architecture experience, with an emphasis on data ingestion and quality within the Azure platform.
  • Public sector experience preferred 

Key Skills and Expertise:

  • Data Quality & ETL Processes:

    • Expertise in developing processes to detect and correct corrupt data at the source.
    • Proficiency in creating and managing ETL workflows, including extraction, transformation, and loading for various data repositories (relational and multidimensional).
    • Experience in automating data cleansing, extraction, and loading processes.
    • Proven ability to implement robust monitoring and error notification mechanisms to ensure timely and accurate data updates.
  • Data Analysis & Reporting:

    • Skilled in generating research models and reports, both scheduled and ad-hoc.
    • Ability to design and support tools for effective data analysis applications.
    • Advanced troubleshooting and analytical skills for data and process issues.
  • Enterprise Architecture & Business Process Design:

    • Proficient in process mapping, business process re-engineering, and creating complex data models (using UML or similar methodologies).
    • Experience in developing enterprise architecture deliverables, including business, logical, and physical data models.
    • In-depth knowledge of Information Management principles, policies, and practices.
    • Ability to provide expert guidance in eliminating redundant business processes through process and information model integration.
  • Stakeholder Collaboration:

    • Demonstrated ability to work with stakeholders to define, develop, and document data interfaces.
    • Experience aligning technical solutions with business objectives.
