Our client, a prominent organization in the music industry, is seeking a Payroll and Benefits Specialist to join their dynamic team
Job Description:
The Payroll, Benefits & Pension Specialist will lead the payroll function, ensuring that procedures are compliant, efficient, and current. As a valued member of the overall People & Culture Team in Canada, you will also play an active role in the employee Benefits function around education, enrollment, and compliance.
Responsibilities:
- Full cycle processing of Company payroll
- Prepare, balance, and submit all remittances (WSIB, garnishment, pension contributions, benefit premiums, etc.) on a timely basis
- Prepare monthly journal entries
- Prepare monthly chargebacks for affiliated employees on Canadian payroll
- Reconcile monthly statements, GL and payroll accounts, and year-end reports
- Prepare annual reporting in Ontario, Quebec, Alberta and BC
- Assist in annual budget preparation (payroll and payroll-related expenses)
- Liaise with the Finance team on all matters around payroll accounts, GL reconciliation, etc.
- Ensure compliance with relevant legislation and internal policies
- Respond promptly to employee enquiries in a confidential and professional manner
- Group benefits and pension plan enrollment and administration
- Participate in benefits information sessions with new hires
- Handle administration of leaves (parental, sick/disability, etc.) and reflect in payroll & HRIS accordingly
- Support Pension Committee tasks/meetings; prepare minutes and action items
- Prepare and file annual pension information return (AIR)
Requirements:
- Graduate of a diploma/degree program in Accounting, Business Administration, HR, or related field
- Successful completion of Canadian Payroll Association certification or other equivalent training
- Minimum 2 years’ payroll experience – “ADP Workforce Now” an asset
- Current knowledge of payroll regulations and processes
- Background in Pension and Benefits administration
- Working knowledge of Defined Contribution pension plans and related legislation
- Familiarity with HRIS – “Workday” an asset
