We are seeking a Communications Officer for our provincial government client for a 4 month contract, with possibility of extension. Reporting to the Manager, Creative Design & Marketing, the successful candidate will be responsible for developing and managing creative content, visuals, and marketing strategies to support communications initiatives. This role involves leveraging social media platforms, designing print and digital materials, and ensuring alignment with corporate branding guidelines while fostering engagement and education for stakeholders.
Roles and Responsibilities
- Develop and post engaging content and visuals across social media platforms to support communications initiatives and inform stakeholders.
- Utilize social media analytics tools to monitor performance, audience engagement, and campaign effectiveness; provide actionable recommendations for improvement.
- Design and produce print and digital materials in compliance with corporate brand guidelines.
- Provide design and social media support to internal teams, ensuring the development of impactful communication and marketing materials.
- Assist project teams and cross-divisional collaborations, managing vendor and stakeholder communications.
- Review pre-press files to ensure designs are print-ready and adhere to brand standards.
- Maintain and update brand guidelines under managerial direction, ensuring organization-wide compliance.
- Represent the Creative Design and Marketing team in committees, task forces, and working groups.
- Build and sustain effective relationships with stakeholders to promote program objectives and solicit input.
- Monitor and evaluate emerging social media platforms, identifying opportunities for innovation and community engagement.
- Stay updated on industry trends, technologies, and best practices to enhance skills and methodologies.
Qualifications and Skills
- Strong knowledge of communication and design practices.
- Proficiency in social media platforms, analytics tools, and the Microsoft Office Suite.
- Advanced skills in Adobe Creative Suite (Photoshop, InDesign, Illustrator).
- Proven project management and organizational skills with a keen attention to detail.
- Excellent research, writing, and editing capabilities.
- Strong analytical, problem-solving, and interpersonal skills.
- Familiarity with the Accessibility for Ontarians with Disabilities Act (AODA) to ensure compliance in communication assets.
- French language proficiency is considered an asset.
- Must be legally entitled to work in Canada.
Education
- Degree or diploma in Marketing, Communications, or a related field.
