Job Description
One of our provincial clients is seeking a skilled GIS Specialist for a six-month contract. This role offers an exciting opportunity to contribute to enterprise GIS system development and data management initiatives.
Key Responsibilities
- Collaborate to develop and maintain a robust enterprise GIS system.
- Provide comprehensive GIS support, including mapping, spatial analysis, data management, visualizations, and technical assistance.
- Engage in business development activities such as proposal preparation, client meetings, and presentations.
- Design and maintain map templates, layers, and symbol sets for GIS users.
- Utilize ETL/Integration technologies to convert spatial data formats and integrate data structures.
- Create and update GIS workflow and process documentation.
- Collect, compile, migrate, and convert datasets to meet project requirements.
- Evaluate new GIS software to ensure compatibility with workflows and user needs.
- Develop and implement tailored GIS solutions for projects.
- Support user training, technical assistance, and team collaboration.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in GIS, Geography, Computer Science, or a related discipline.
- Certification in GIS technology/software.
- 2–5 years of professional GIS experience.
- Proficiency in ESRI GIS software (ArcMap, ArcGIS Pro, ArcGIS Online, ArcGIS Enterprise).
- Knowledge of spatial data structures, formats, and databases (e.g., ESRI Geodatabase, Google KML).
- Experience with Python scripting/programming and SQL.
- Strong analytical, problem-solving, and decision-making skills.
- Familiarity with the software development lifecycle, requirements gathering, and user acceptance testing.
Preferred Skills
- Experience with PowerBI, Tableau, or CARTO.
- Hands-on experience with database management and spatial ETL tools.
