Job Description

Altis Technology is recruiting on behalf of a municipal client in Halton Region for a System Administrator (Data Team) to manage and enhance their Data & Information Management infrastructure. This role is pivotal to supporting the organization’s Digital Strategy objectives by ensuring the performance, security, and reliability of both on-premises and Azure cloud environments.

Key Responsibilities

Network and Firewall Management

• Design, deploy, and maintain secure, scalable network infrastructure.
• Configure and manage Fortinet and Cisco firewalls to ensure robust perimeter security.
• Manage VPNs, VLANs, IPsec VPN Tunnels, DNS configurations for hybrid data centers and Azure.

Cloud Infrastructure Management

• Oversee Azure cloud platforms, ensuring scalability and cost-efficiency.
• Automate cloud operations with tools like Terraform, Bicep, or Ansible.
• Lead data migration projects between cloud and on-prem environments.

Data Technologies

• Maintain and optimize SQL and NoSQL databases.
• Implement backup, recovery, and retention strategies to protect data integrity.

System Administration

• Manage Windows and Linux server environments, access control, and directory services (Active Directory, Azure RBAC).

Security and Compliance

• Implement and monitor robust security measures to protect systems and data integrity.

Qualifications and Skills

• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or equivalent experience.
• 3-5+ years of experience in system administration or a related role.
• Expertise in networking (TCP/IP, DNS, DHCP) and firewall management (Fortinet, Cisco).
• Proficiency in Azure cloud services and Infrastructure as Code (IaC) tools (Terraform, Bicep, or Ansible).
• Experience with database management (SQL, NoSQL).
• Familiarity with scripting and automation tools (Python, Bash, PowerShell, Kubernetes, CI/CD).
• Relevant certifications (CompTIA Network+, Azure Certified Solutions Architect, CCNA) are a strong asset.
