Our client, a global leader in consulting, is seeking a Hedge Fund Accounting and Operations Analyst to join their team!
This exciting opportunity offers a 12-month contract on a hybrid schedule (four days on-site) based in Downtown Toronto
Key Responsibilities:
Trade Life Cycle Management
- Manage trade processes for hedge funds, co-investments, and special vehicles.
- Prepare/review monthly NAV calculations, analyze variances, and monitor P&L changes.
- Support investment operations, including fee accruals, capital calls, redemptions, and payments.
- Prepare trade tickets, ensure transaction accuracy, and manage cash forecasts.
- Analyze issues, recommend actions, and escalate irregularities.
Investment Accounting & Reporting
- Apply hedge fund accounting principles.
- Assist in financial data preparation for reports and statements.
- Record transactions, resolve discrepancies, and complete reconciliations.
- Provide insights and ensure data accuracy in financial reporting.
Process Improvement
- Identify process improvement opportunities and enhance controls.
- Maintain process documentation and lead efficiency projects.
Relationship Management
- Collaborate with internal teams to resolve operational challenges.
- Build and manage relationships with custodians, administrators, and auditors.
- Act as a hedge fund operations and accounting expert.
Qualifications:
- Relevant university degree such as Business, Economics, Finance, Commerce, or other related discipline
- Progressive experience and knowledge of financial markets and instruments, with ideally 2-3 years of experience in the Financial Services sector, prior experience in Fund Operations and Investment Accounting
- Professional designations such as a CPA, CFA are considered an asset
- Good understanding of various fund investment strategies, operational processes, trade lifecycle, settlement, custody, valuation, and experience dealing with institutional managers and pooled funds
- Hands on experience in administration, financial accounting in a financial or securities capacity
- Advanced Excel skills and comfortable learning new systems.
- Working knowledge of VBA and SQL is a plus.
- Experience with SimCorp Dimensions Accounting system is an asset
