Job Description
We are currently seeking an Instructional Designer for our international affairs client located in Ottawa.
Reporting to the Project Manager, the Instructional Designer will create interactive eLearning experiences from content developed by subject matter experts.
This is a one year contract with a fully remote working model.
Responsibilities: - Provide guidance in the development of new online courses: Offer expert advice in creating new online courses, focusing on instructional design.
- Conducts and applies research: Investigate and implement findings related to instructional design, learning technology, and best practices in online learning.
- Collaborate with various officers: Work with the Program Manager, Project Manager, Senior Officers, Content Development Officer, and eLearning Development Officer to ensure the effective development of online courses and programs.
- Liaise regarding project timelines: Coordinate with the team to ensure project timelines are met, commitments are honored, and progress is reported.
- Design and develop engaging content: Create content that is engaging, challenging, and meaningful, utilizing various tools, technologies, and learning methodologies.
- Stay updated on innovative methodologies: Keep informed about the latest and most innovative methods in knowledge transfer and instructional design.
- Strategize, build, and evaluate content: Plan, create, and assess content effectiveness and impact, in close collaboration with the EPM.
- Develop engaging training material: Use graphics and animation to create compelling and interactive training materials.
Requirements: - Minimum 3-5 years' experience in Instructional Design
- Bachelor’s degree in Education, Instructional Design, Educational Technology, or another relevent discipline
- Experience with online course development preferred
- Strong understanding of adult learning principles and the needs of adult learners, particularly in the context of online learning
- Strong communication skills in English and working knowledge of another language is considered an asset.
- Experience working with learning management systems, educational technologies, and software applications in relation to online teaching and learning
- Valid passport and compliance with vaccination protocols to travel internationally at any time is required
