One of our large scale government agency clients in Toronto is looking for Configuration Technicians to join their team. This will be a 100% fully onsite 5 days per week at Don Mills & Eglinton. The contract will run until July to start and then will extend from there.
Our client's Information Technology and Digital Solutions division is seeking Configuration Technicians to provide support services to their computers systems, Field System Hardware and Software and related equipment. The Configuration Technicians will perform imaging of Hardware and preparation of inventory checklists for deployment to the field. They will also provide hardware/software installation/maintenance support to the Field IT team.
This individual will report to the Manager, Field IT.
Hours: 36.25 per week
Roles and Responsibilities
- Troubleshoot and diagnose software and hardware related issues on a day-to-day basis.
- Meet daily production deadlines as assigned by the Field IT Project Coordinators.
- Communicate with specific internal teams and technical support staff to resolve technical issues encountered in day-to-day work.
- Conducts maintenance and installation of network systems including all hardware, cabling, and telecommunications.
- Maintains work areas, hardware storage area, server room data centre, lab area and staff work area to be clean and orderly.
- Performs testing and evaluation of current and future software applications, as assigned. Tests new software and hardware for compatibility with current standards and equipment.
- Provides updates and reports to supervisor and internal team members on the status of work, providing basic information on the production of configuration benchwork. Answers basic questions and documents configuration benchwork progress. Escalates issues/problems to the appropriate resource with level of urgency, if unable to resolve.
- Maintains the inventory database, adding new inventory, updating old records, and tracking overdue inventory. Handles requests for use of inventory and enters these appropriately in database. Handles requests for sign out and sign in of inventory and enters these in database appropriately. Follows up on overdue inventory as listed in database and track down accordingly. Keeps inventory in logical and orderly fashion.
Qualifications and Skills
- Knowledge of all Microsoft software products, imaging software, PC desktop and laptop/computer hardware, network cabling and telecommunications applications to perform hardware/software installation and maintenance duties.
- Knowledge of installation techniques and methods for hardware and software, including operating systems, non-standard software and hardware and emerging technology to perform installation services and troubleshoot problems with computer hardware/software/peripherals and PDAs.
- Requires interpersonal and communications skills to interact effectively with Field IT team and co-workers in performing duties.
- Requires knowledge and awareness of new trends and technologies in the systems industry to test new products for compatibility with current standards.
- High attention to detail; proven track record of delivering quality work based on precision workmanship.
- Flexibility to adapt to changing priorities and deadlines.
- Able to lift independently a maximum of 45 lbs.
- Must be legally entitled to work in Canada.
