Job Description

We are seeking an entry level Collections Representative to join a reputable organization within the financial services industry. In this role, you will be responsible for managing collections, maintaining client relationships, and ensuring accounts are handled effectively and in compliance with industry regulations. Your ability to speak both French and/or Mandarin AND English fluently will be key to success, as you will be supporting clients across various regions.

Location: Mississauga, ON (HYBRID) 
Monday - Friday 8:30am - 5:15pm
Hourly Pay Rate: $23.00

Key Responsibilities:

  • Collections Management:

    • Contact customers via phone, email, and written correspondence in both French and English to collect overdue payments.
    • Negotiate payment arrangements and resolve disputes to ensure timely payment of accounts.
    • Maintain accurate and detailed records of all communication and payment activities in the company’s systems.
    • Work with customers to establish realistic repayment plans based on their financial situation.
  • Customer Service:

    • Build and maintain positive customer relationships, providing a high level of service and professionalism at all times.
    • Address and resolve customer inquiries or concerns related to their accounts, ensuring that customers are fully informed about their financial obligations.
  • Account Analysis & Reporting:

    • Monitor accounts and assess risk, identifying any trends or patterns that may require escalation or further action.
    • Provide regular updates and reports to management on collections progress, account status, and customer feedback.
    • Ensure all collections activities are in compliance with company policies, industry regulations, and privacy laws.
  • Collaboration & Team Support:

    • Collaborate with other departments, such as Finance, Risk Management, and Customer Service, to resolve complex account issues and maintain the integrity of financial data.
    • Participate in team meetings and contribute to the development of best practices for collections and customer interaction.

Qualifications & Skills:

  • Bilingual (French & English): Fluent in both French and/or Mandarin and English (written and spoken) is essential for this role.
  • Experience: Minimum of 2 years of experience in collections, preferably within the financial services industry.
  • Customer Service Orientation: Excellent communication skills with the ability to manage sensitive situations professionally.
  • Problem-Solving Skills: Strong analytical skills to assess account situations and propose effective solutions.
  • Attention to Detail: Ability to maintain accurate records and manage multiple accounts simultaneously.
  • Regulatory Knowledge: Understanding of relevant financial services regulations and collections best practices is an asset.
