Our reputable client in the banking sector, is seeking a permanent Senior Manager, Corporate Compliance Advisory to join their team!

Reporting to the Director of Regulatory Governance, the Senior Manager, Corporate Compliance Advisor will provide compliance advisory support, lead projects, and ensure alignment with key Canadian regulations. The Senior Manager will oversee the execution of the Canada Branch Compliance Risk Management (CRM) Program, including compliance operations, risk assessments, regulatory compliance, and policy management. 

This is a hybrid role based out of their downtown Toronto office.

Role and Responsibilities

  • Corporate Compliance Operations: Manage annual compliance plan, calendar, and administrative tasks such as regulatory filings, registrations, and committee activities.
  • CRM Program Execution: Lead activities such as monitoring regulatory changes, managing compliance risks, coordinating assessments, and reporting.
  • Compliance Projects: Design and implement compliance projects to address issues, enhance the CRM Program, and respond to regulatory changes.
  • Advisory Counseling: Provide expert advice on regulations like the Bank Act, Privacy Act, and OSFI Guidelines, while supporting new business initiatives.
  • Policy & Procedures Management: Oversee compliance policies and coordinate with central teams.
  • Data Governance: Support compliance data governance activities and improvements.

Qualifications

  • Education: Bachelor’s degree required; LLB or JD preferred.
  • Experience: 3+ years in financial services compliance, with two years preferred in a law firm or as in-house counsel for a federally regulated financial institution. Experience with international financial institutions or Schedule III foreign bank branches is an asset.
  • Skills: Strong organizational, problem-solving, and communication skills. Ability to manage multiple projects and engage with internal and external stakeholders effectively.
