One of our clients in the construction industry is looking for a Project Manager to manage projects from start to finish undertaking design of runways, taxiways, aprons, airside service roads, airside commercial developments including associated site servicing, grading, earthworks and stormwater management. This is a permanent position , hybrid in Calgary.
Your day may start in our Calgary office, however often our Project Managers travel to our various sites within Canada and the Caribbean to conduct business as well.
Specific tasks include:
- Support in the development and preparation of figures, design drawings, specifications, calculations, cost estimates, quantity take-offs, technical reports, etc.
- Undertake research activities to identify and develop potential solutions to design challenges associated with airfield facility design/construction
- Project management and contract administration duties for infrastructure projects including but not limited to the preparation of budget/schedule updates, progress payment certificates, shop drawing review, site instructions, change orders, commissioning inspections, etc.
- Maintain up-to-date knowledge of current Transport Canada, ICAO, FAA, IATA, ASSI, ECCAA and related standards and recommended practices
- Provide QA/QC for in-progress and completed designs
- Enhance knowledge of requirements of reviewing agencies such as NAV CANADA, Transport Canada, Municipalities, Airport Authorities, Aviation Regulatory Agencies, etc.
- Support with technical report writing
- Preparation of proposals
- Inspect project sites and evaluate contractor work to determine compliance with Contract Documents
- Plan and conduct site visits, site reviews and field surveys
- Mentoring of junior staff
What do we need from you?
the best fit for this position is an individual that has a minimum five (5) years’ or more of experience in civil engineering design and project engineering, and is known for seeing ahead of the curve, and getting in front of problems before they arise.
Project managers are expected to have strong interpersonal skills with the ability to effectively communicate with clients, manage sub-consultants, and oversee contractors. They have a keen eye for detail and are able to utilize this strength to solve problems on a daily basis. They tend to be individuals that have a reputation for taking action and building solid foundations with our team to ensure excellent execution of our clients’ projects.
Additional skills and experience we are seeking:
- Professional Engineer (P.Eng.) with a minimum of five (5) years’ experience or Civil Technologist with minimum ten (10) years’ experience
- Demonstrated experience in civil engineering, design, or project engineering/management for the municipal/land development/transportation industry, with airport experience an asset.
- Strong communication and report-writing skills and ability to prioritize/manager multiple project timelines
- Extensive experience in MS Office suite of programs (MS Word, Excel, Outlook, Project)
- Experience in preparing and monitoring/updating progress schedules using MS Project
- Knowledge of AutoCAD Civil3D
- Valid Driver’s license
- Topographic survey experience and an interest in airports/aviation are considered assets.
