Job Description
Our leading airport consulting client is looking for a Project Coordinator/Designer to join their team on a full time basis in their Calgary office.
As a Project Engineer/Designer, you’ll manage and execute airport infrastructure projects from start to finish. Most of your time will be based in the Calgary office, though you’ll also travel to project sites across Canada and the Caribbean as needed.
Typical Responsibilities:
- Design runways, taxiways, aprons, airside roads, commercial developments, and related infrastructure, including grading, earthworks, and stormwater management.
- Help prepare design drawings, specifications, calculations, cost estimates, and technical reports.
- Handle contract administration tasks like budget updates, progress payments, shop drawing reviews, site instructions, and change orders.
- Stay up-to-date on current standards and practices from Transport Canada, ICAO, and FAA.
- Provide quality assurance and control for ongoing and completed designs.
- Understand requirements of reviewing agencies like Transport Canada, NAV CANADA, and local municipalities.
- Inspect project sites to ensure contractor work complies with contract terms.
- Plan and conduct site visits and topographic surveys.
Key Qualifications:
- Licensed Professional Engineer or Engineer-in-Training with at least three years of related experience, or a Civil Technologist with five years of experience.
- Background in civil engineering, project management, or design for municipal, land development, or transportation projects, with airport experience preferred.
- Strong communication and organizational skills, with the ability to manage multiple projects.
- Proficiency in AutoCAD Civil3D and MS Office (Word, Excel, Outlook).
- Valid driver’s license.
- Experience with topographic surveys, geotechnical or pavement design, and an interest in aviation are assets.
