Job Summary
One of our Government clients is seeking an experienced Health and Safety Specialist to support its Health and Safety Department.
The Specialist will work remotely, playing a crucial role in advancing the organization’s safety program by developing and implementing comprehensive health and safety policies, procedures, and best practices.
This role will focus on ensuring the company meets regulatory compliance standards and promoting a safe working environment.
The position requires a candidate with a strong understanding of North American health and safety regulations, particularly within Saskatchewan.
Contract Duration: January 6, 2025 - March 31, 2026 (with possible extension based on organizational needs)
Key Responsibilities
- Policy Development & Implementation: Develop, update, and implement health and safety policies and procedures to align with local, provincial, and federal regulations.
- Best Practice Integration: Implement industry best practices and current safety technologies to foster a safe working environment.
- Risk Assessment & Mitigation: Conduct risk assessments to identify potential hazards and develop strategies to mitigate risks.
- Training & Support: Create and deliver health and safety training sessions to ensure staff understanding and compliance with safety protocols.
Qualifications
- 5 years of experience in a health and safety role
- Demonstrated experience in creating and executing health and safety policies, procedures, and compliance measures.
- Thorough knowledge of local, provincial, and federal health and safety standards, with expertise in Saskatchewan’s Occupational Health and Safety Regulations.
- Familiarity with Human and Organizational Performance (HOP) methodologies or similar safety frameworks.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with a proven ability to conduct investigations and risk assessments.
- Knowledge of process safety standards (an asset).
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Bachelor’s degree in Occupational Health and Safety, Environmental Health, Industrial Hygiene, or a related field. Certifications in Health and Safety (e.g., CRSP, CHSC) are strongly preferred.
