Our client, a prominent Schedule II bank is looking for a Manager of Finance, with a focus on regulatory reporting. You will be managing regulatory reporting to both domestic regulators and the Parent Bank as well as supporting day-to-day accounting and reporting activities. Additionally, you will contribute to system testing, automation of returns, and the development of regulatory reporting systems, as well as support local automation projects and consolidation with the Group. A strong understanding of routine finance and accounting procedures will be essential, along with the ability to assist in other accounting functions as needed.

Key areas of focus: 
  • Verification of various periodic regulatory reports of OSFI, Bank of Canada, and Statistics Canada as well as accurately filing on the systems mandated by the local regulator.
  • Preparation of monthly regulatory Capital Adequacy, CET1, and Leverage ratios for internal reporting
  • Preparation and verification of periodic Pillar 3 reporting for disclosure on the Bank’s website as well as reporting for Parent Bank consolidation.
  • Preparation of annual ICAAP forecasts and semi-annual updates
  • Preparation of periodic surveys/ inspection reports as required to be filed with regulator(s) and federal/ provincial authorities.
  • Assist the Controller in the preparation of monthly financial statements and the quarterly reporting package for the Board.
  • Assist the VP & CFO in managing the ICOFR compliance process at the Bank as well as documentation and testing of the ICOFR processes for the Finance team.
  • Preparation of the periodic MIS reports including regulatory ratios as required.
  • Ensure adherence to accounting and corporate policies and procedures and maintenance of the integrity and accuracy of all accounting & reporting records.
  • Management of operational risk, regulatory compliance, and other internal risk parameters for the Finance team.
  • Manage various internal, and external audits and specific queries from Regulators.
  • Assisting in the preparation of the annual business plan.
  • Handle queries on regulatory requirements including capital adequacy treatments, etc.
  • Participate in UAT testing in respect of accounting and reporting systems.
Must haves: 
  • University degree in Business, Finance, Accounting, or related field.
  • Professional designation including CPA, CFA, or MBA
  • Minimum 8+ years of experience in the banking or financial services industry, with a focus on regulatory reporting and accounting.
  • Proven experience dealing directly with regulators, particularly OSFI and other relevant financial regulatory bodies.
  • Experience within a Schedule II or III bank is highly desirable.
  • Strong communication skills, with the ability to liaise effectively at the board level and across various levels of the organization.
  • Proactive and solutions-oriented with a focus on continuous improvement.
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities and deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
