Job Description
Our healthcare client is seeking a highly capable and reliable Finance Manager to add to their growing team. The role is responsible for budgeting, funding, and financial management. The ideal candidate will have a keen ability to gather and analyze key financial information for both internal and external use, enhancing the clinic's forecasting, strategy, and financial policies.
The Finance Manager will oversee comprehensive financial analysis for each clinic location, prepare monthly budgets and forecasts, maintain required reporting, and establish key performance indicators (KPIs) to aid strategic planning. This individual will play a crucial role in advising the executive team, optimizing cost efficiency, and driving the organization’s financial strategies forward. This is a permanent, hybrid role based in Ottawa offering great work life balance and a strong overall compensation package.
Financial Reporting
- Analyze financial statements, including monthly variance analysis, ensuring compliance with ASPE/GAAP and regulatory requirements.
Budgeting, Forecasting, and Cash Management
- Develop and manage annual budgets, conduct variance analysis, and provide financial forecasts to inform strategic decision-making.
- Manage capital expenditures and investments, especially for new clinics.
- Monitor cash flow, developing effective cash management strategies across accounts receivable, payable, and payroll.
Internal Controls
- Establish and monitor internal controls to safeguard company assets and ensure financial integrity.
- Identify and implement process improvements within the finance department to drive efficiency and compliance.
External Audits- Coordinate with external auditors, ensuring readiness for annual audits, compliance with financial regulations, and efficient communication to facilitate timely audits.
Strategic Planning
- Develop KPI dashboards to support organizational strategic planning.
- Deliver executive-level financial reporting for informed decision-making, including project-specific appraisal, evaluation, and post-implementation analysis.
- Collaborate with the COO to identify new market opportunities, conducting market research and managing financial requirements for expansion.
- Maximize SR&ED tax credits by identifying eligible R&D expenses, ensuring thorough documentation, and implementing strategies to optimize tax savings across federal and provincial programs.
Capital and Operational Management
- Work with the COO to support financial modeling, quality of earnings analysis, marketing strategies, and investor outreach.
Other Duties
- Perform additional duties as assigned to support organizational goals.
Education and Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field.
- CPA designation required.
- Extensive knowledge of accounting standards, financial regulations, and relevant financial tools.
- Minimum of 7 years of experience in a similar role.
- Proficiency in accounting software (including QBO, Plooto, DEXT) and MS Office Suite, especially Excel.
- Excellent analytical, organizational, and prioritization skills, with strong attention to detail.
