Our client in the public sector is looking for a Employee and Labour Relations Consultant to join their team for a full-time permanent role in Toronto. This is a hybrid role, 2-3 days in office per week.
The Employee & Labour Relations Consultant will be responsible for providing expert advice and support on employee and labour relations matters. This role will focus on developing and implementing effective strategies to enhance workplace culture, address employee concerns, and ensure compliance with labour laws and regulations. The consultant will work closely with HR teams, management, and employees to promote positive employee relations and resolve disputes.
Roles and Responsibilities
- Provide guidance to management and HR teams on employee relations issues, including conflict resolution, grievance handling, disciplinary actions, and performance management.
- Assist in managing relationships with labour unions, including negotiating collective agreements, resolving disputes, and interpreting contract provisions.
- Conduct thorough investigations into employee complaints and grievances, documenting findings and recommending appropriate actions to resolve issues.
- Design and deliver training programs for management and employees on employee relations best practices, conflict resolution, and communication skills.

Qualifications and Skills
- Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, or a related field.
- 5+ years of experience in an HR role focusing on employee relations and labour relations.
- CHRP designation considered a strong asset.
- Proven experience in employee relations, labour relations, or HR consulting, with a strong understanding of labour laws and regulations.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build relationships and influence stakeholders at all levels.
