Job Description

Our client in the Non-Profit space is seeking a Human Resources Generalist to join their team on a 3-month contract in Ottawa with potential to extend. This dynamic, fast-paced role is ideal for a proactive, motivated, and results-focused HR Generalist. If you are detail-oriented, a strong communicator, and passionate about projects focused and employee experience this role will be well suited for you.

This is a hybrid contract with 2-3 days required onsite a week.

Responsibilities:

  • Provide support in employee relations matters and assist with special projects.
  • Pull reports through the HRIS system to assist with data analysis and decision-making.
  • Complete surveys and gather data, ensuring accuracy and alignment with organizational goals.
  • Assist in evaluating the capacity of team members and departments as part of the ongoing organizational development project.
  • Work closely with managers and stakeholders to ensure data is aligned with organizational development objectives.
  • Assist with recruitment efforts, especially during periods of high volume, and collaborate with hiring managers as a “shared service partner” to streamline recruitment processes.
  • Support the learning and development function, including assessing training needs, coordinating training programs, and providing service-oriented support to managers.
  • Provide administrative and logistical support for labor relations activities, including preparing documentation for collective bargaining.

Qualifications:

  • 4+ years of experience as an HR Generalist with a focus on employee relations.
  • Strong documentation skills and a good understanding of relevant Canadian legislation.
  • Experience working with unions is highly beneficial, especially in the context of preparing for upcoming collective bargaining negotiations.
  • Experience in a non-profit, social service, or public service environment is an asset.
  • Post-secondary education in HR (diploma or degree).
  • Technically savvy with strong analytical skills.
  • Outgoing with excellent communication abilities and attention to detail.
  • A team player who can fit into our collaborative culture.
  • Capable of navigating sensitive conversations with empathy and professionalism.
