Our client is seeking a highly motivated and experienced Project Manager to lead their green and sustainable initiatives across retail stores. This role will focus on driving projects that enhance the environmental sustainability of our store operations, with a particular emphasis on reducing carbon footprints, improving energy efficiency, and incorporating sustainable materials and practices. The ideal candidate will have a background in the food and beverage or retail industries.

Background & Mission:

This position plays a key role in the client's global sustainability strategy to achieve reductions in Scope I and II emissions, water savings and waste reduction in their stores. The Project Manager responsible for executing the sustainability strategy for the client's Canadian stores will work closely with leaders in Store Development, Licensed, Operations and others to assess and plan the right sustainability projects over the next 1-5 years for Canada and their related outcomes to achieve meaningful progress in sustainability. Foremost among those projects is the retrofitting of LED lighting and high-efficiency plumbing in existing company-owned stores.

  • Manages projects through company standards with focus on time, scope, quality and cost.
  • Able to work effectively on an independent basis, or with a team, as situations demand and change while influencing team to do the same
  • Assesses the value of each task and differentiates between urgent and important to adapt and establish project team deliverables.
  • Participates in co-creation to ensure the project's goals align to the business unit, functional area and/or company goals and strategies.
  • Understands and contributes to the needs of key stakeholders and communicates accordingly throughout the project lifecycle
  • Embodies and promotes a growth mindset, contributing to a positive and productive work environment and coaches others to do the same.
  • Drives decision making that cultivates alignment over consensus building, with support from manager.
  • Fosters teamwork through clear and purposeful communication within the project team and coaches others to do the same.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in Business, Project Management, Environmental Science, or a related field.
  • PMP designation is desired.
  • 5+ years of project management experience, preferably within the retail or food and beverage industry.
  • Strong understanding of facilities management and the operational needs of retail environments.
  • Demonstrated experience in managing sustainability or environmental projects. Specifically, residential or commercial energy efficiency program implementation experience.
  • Advanced Microsoft Excel skills
  • Proven ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously while meeting deadlines.
  • Excellent communication and leadership skills.
  • Knowledge of sustainability best practices, environmental regulations, and green building certifications (e.g., LEED, BREEAM) is a plus.
