Job Description
Our client, a nonprofit organization, is seeking a Finance Officer/Analyst to join their team for a full-time, permanent based in Ottawa.
Key Responsibilities:
- Oversee the batch payment processing in the accounting system prepared by the accounts payable officer, and authorize them for posting.
- Review and approve the deposits entered by the accounts receivable Officer in the accounting system.
- Collaborate with the AR/AP officers to review and finalize monthly bank reconciliations.
- Prepare and submit quarterly HST/GST returns.
- Verify and post both daily and monthly sales reports
- Post bi-weekly and monthly entries such as payroll, amortization, etc.
- Complete financial filings on a monthly, quarterly, and annual basis.
- Prepare financial statements on a monthly, quarterly, and annual schedule to be presented to the CFO.
- Perform various other accounting duties as needed.
- Provide support for the annual audit, including the preparation of working papers and reports for auditors.
- Assist with any ad-hoc tasks or special requests.
- Engage with cemetery representatives as necessary for relevant matters.
Qualifications:
- Degree or diploma in finance, accounting, or a related field.
- At least 4 years of progressive experience in a similar role.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Excel for basic to intermediate functions and formulas.
- Experience with accounting software like Sage is an asset.
