Job Description

Our client, a nonprofit organization, is seeking a Finance Officer/Analyst to join their team for a full-time, permanent based in Ottawa.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Oversee the batch payment processing in the accounting system prepared by the accounts payable officer, and authorize them for posting.
  • Review and approve the deposits entered by the accounts receivable Officer in the accounting system.
  • Collaborate with the AR/AP officers to review and finalize monthly bank reconciliations.
  • Prepare and submit quarterly HST/GST returns.
  • Verify and post both daily and monthly sales reports
  • Post bi-weekly and monthly entries such as payroll, amortization, etc.
  • Complete financial filings on a monthly, quarterly, and annual basis.
  • Prepare financial statements on a monthly, quarterly, and annual schedule to be presented to the CFO.
  • Perform various other accounting duties as needed.
  • Provide support for the annual audit, including the preparation of working papers and reports for auditors.
  • Assist with any ad-hoc tasks or special requests.
  • Engage with cemetery representatives as necessary for relevant matters.

Qualifications:

  • Degree or diploma in finance, accounting, or a related field.
  • At least 4 years of progressive experience in a similar role.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Excel for basic to intermediate functions and formulas.
  • Experience with accounting software like Sage is an asset.
