Job Description
The Manager, Financial Accounting & Reporting oversees financial operations including reporting, policies, processes, internal controls, and accounting. This role involves team development and collaboration with finance team members to meet strategic objectives and deliver process and system improvements. This is a controller-level role, reporting to the CFO.
Key Responsibilities:
- Prepare and review financial statements and management reports, manage audit processes, ensure compliance with accounting standards, and recommend improvements to financial policies and systems.
- Oversee daily accounting operations such as accounts payable/receivable, general ledger maintenance, payroll, and cost allocations. Ensure compliance with policies and regulations, and drive process efficiency.
- Manage accounts receivable functions including invoicing, payment processing, and collections. Monitor receivables aging, implement strategies for improvement, and prepare AR status reports.
- Oversee and drive financial system change initiatives within the finance department to enhance the efficiency, accuracy, and effectiveness of accounting processes and reporting systems.
- Supervise, coach, and direct finance staff to ensure that they are appropriately motivated and developed and able to carry out their responsibilities to the required standard.
- Assist with financial reporting for committees and board meetings, provide backup support during absences, conduct ad hoc financial analysis, and manage the financial ERP system.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s Degree and CPA Designation required.
- Over ten years of finance/accounting experience, ideally within a similar organization.
- Experience with Not-for-Profit Accounting standards and regulatory accounting.
- Strong analytical, communication, and leadership skills.
- Proficiency with financial systems, advanced Excel skills, and data modeling.
- Management skills to mentor and direct staff.
