Job Title: Remote Engineer
Location: New York (Remote) - Zero / Light Travel
Job Type: Full-time Permanent position
Salary: $65 - $75 Based on Exp.
On behalf of our client, we are seeking a Remote Engineer with extensive hands-on field experience to provide remote technical support, system commissioning, and job-site guidance for commercial AV and digital signage deployments. In this role, you will leverage your background in AV integration and construction to guide on-site technicians, interface with clients, and remotely configure and validate systems through final commissioning. This is a primary remote position designed for field veterans looking to transition off the road, though openness to light travel for occasional critical project milestones is preferred.
Responsibilities
Remote System Commissioning: Remotely configure, calibrate, test, and commission AV hardware, digital signage displays, media players, and network controllers while field staff handle physical deployment.
On-Site Technical Guidance: Serve as the technical lifeline for on-site technicians and third-party contractors, troubleshooting installation issues, cabling, signal flow, and structural mounting constraints in real time.
Client Interface & Remote Oversight: Act as the primary technical point of contact for clients during site turn-up, managing expectations, providing status updates, and ensuring a seamless final sign-off.
Scope & Blueprint Review: Analyze construction drawings, single-line diagrams, and site surveys to help field teams navigate structural, electrical, and physical installation requirements.
Post-Installation & Escalation Support: Provide tier-level technical troubleshooting for new site activations and post-commissioning technical issues.
Qualifications
Field Installation Background: Prior hands-on experience physically installing and troubleshooting commercial AV systems, digital signage networks, and display hardware in the field.
AV & Construction Knowledge: Solid technical understanding of signal flow, IP networking, media players, structural mounting, wall backing, and electrical considerations.
Remote Support & Communication: Ability to articulate technical instructions clearly over the phone, video conference, and messaging platforms to guide field crews through complex setups.
System Diagnostics & Commissioning: Familiarity with remotely accessing, configuring, and troubleshooting CMS platforms, display hardware, and network switches.
Travel Preference: Primarily remote home-office role; willingness to perform light travel (e.g., under 1015%) for key project kickoffs or complex commissioning events is preferred.
