Position Overview:

Our client in Commercial Property Accounting is seeking skilled and detail-oriented Senior Accountant, Property Accounting to join their finance team. Key Responsibilities

  • Prepare annual Common Area Maintenance (CAM) and property tax billings, including Excel model creation and lease audits.
  • Process accounting entries and reconciliations related to property acquisitions and dispositions.
  • Handle month-end and recurring journal entries.
  • Prepare monthly financial reporting packages, including financial statements.
  • Compile quarterly financial reports, work papers, and supporting schedules.
  • Manage intercompany chargebacks.
  • Perform GST/HST reconciliations.
  • Conduct bank reconciliations.
  • Assist in the preparation of annual budgets.
  • Prepare year-end audit working papers and coordinate with external auditors during fieldwork.
  • Process tenant and vendor chargebacks as required.
  • Work closely with property managers and asset managers to ensure accurate financial reporting.
  • Oversee cash flow management and coordinate cash calls when needed.
  • Support additional property accounting tasks as assigned by management.

Qualifications & Skills

  • Post-secondary education in Finance, Accounting or related field
  • In pursuit of CPA designation considered a very strong asset
  • Minimum 3 years of experience in real estate accounting or 2 years of audit experience in public accounting
  • Ability to review, mentor, and provide guidance to peer accountants.
  • Strong organizational skills with a keen attention to detail.
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
  • Excellent communication skills, including the ability to draft detailed reports and collaborate effectively with senior management.
  • Advanced proficiency in Excel, Microsoft Word, and accounting software.
