Production Manager
Salary: $130,000
About Our Client:
Our client, a prominent North American manufacturing firm, is looking to hire a Production Manager for the office located in Illinois.
Responsibilities:
- Manage and develop subordinate supervisors overseeing employees across four shifts. Carry out supervisory responsibilities in accordance with company policies, procedures, and all applicable federal, state, and local laws.
- Participate in interviewing, hiring, and training employees; planning, assigning and directing work; performance management, addressing complaints and resolving problems.
- Review production orders or schedules to ascertain product data such as types, quantities, and specifications of products and scheduled delivery dates, to plan department operations.
- Plan production operations, establishing priorities and sequences for manufacturing products.
- Prepare operational schedules and coordinate manufacturing activities to ensure production and quality of products meet specifications.
- Review production and operating reports and resolve operational, manufacturing, and maintenance problems to ensure minimum costs and prevent operational delays.
- Inspect machines and equipment to ensure specific operational performance and optimum utilization.
- Develop or revise standard operational and working practices and observe workers to ensure compliance with standards.
- Compile, store, and retrieve production data.
- Prepare and maintain written correspondence.
- Lead root cause analysis and corrective action through problem-solving activities with guidance from the Supervisor.
- Coordinate schedules for production staff and expedite any shortages.
- Work closely with other departments on various assignments as necessary.
- Direct administrative activities directly related to making products or providing services.
- Prepare staff work schedules and assign specific duties.
- Establish or implement departmental policies, goals, objectives, or procedures.
- Perform personnel functions such as selection, training, or evaluation.
- Manage the movement of goods into and out of production facilities to ensure efficiency, effectiveness, or sustainability of operations.
- Implement or oversee environmental management or sustainability programs addressing issues such as recycling, conservation, or waste management.
Requirements:
- Strong knowledge of plastic processing techniques such as injection molding, blow molding, or extrusion.
- Familiarity with production metrics (OEE, scrap rate, cycle time) and lean manufacturing principles.
- Ability to read technical drawings and interpret specifications and work orders.
- Strong leadership, communication, and problem-solving skills.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office and CMMS or ERP systems.
- Available to work 12-hour shifts and weekends as needed.
- Requires a bachelor's degree or equivalent job experience in production and operations management plus a minimum of five years of progressively responsible related experience; or ten years of progressively responsible related experience.
- Requires a working knowledge of accounting methods and cost control procedures
