About the Opportunity:

Our client is a construction management firm supporting a large public-sector capital improvement program in Los Angeles. They are seeking a Project Manager II – Sustainability to support the delivery of capital construction and modernization projects with a focus on sustainability initiatives.

This role is responsible for managing multiple construction projects while ensuring alignment with sustainability goals, program requirements, and regulatory standards. The position works closely with project teams, contractors, and stakeholders to deliver projects on schedule, within budget, and in compliance with program policies.

This role supports capital construction, modernization, and sustainability projects within a structured public-sector program environment, covering all phases from planning and design through construction, commissioning, and closeout.

This is a full-time, on-site role based in Los Angeles.


Key Responsibilities:

  • Manage and deliver multiple construction projects simultaneously, typically ranging from small to mid-sized capital projects
  • Ensure project planning and execution align with sustainability goals and program initiatives
  • Plan, organize, direct, coordinate, and report on construction project performance
  • Identify risks and develop mitigation strategies
  • Track project schedules, budgets, and overall performance
  • Prepare and maintain project documentation and reporting
  • Ensure projects are delivered on time and within budget
  • Manage project closeout activities in accordance with regulatory and program requirements
  • Review and develop contract documents
  • Support compliance with quality management systems and program procedures
  • Coordinate with stakeholders, contractors, and consultants
  • Conduct site reviews to assess project performance and compliance
  • Support dispute resolution and issue management activities
  • Support outreach and communication related to project updates


Mandatory Requirements:

(Candidates must meet all requirements)

  • Minimum 5+ years of experience managing multiple construction projects
  • Experience working within large capital improvement programs
  • Bachelor’s degree in Architecture, Engineering, Urban Planning, Construction Management, or related field (additional experience may substitute for education)
  • Strong understanding of the full construction project lifecycle (planning through closeout)
  • Experience managing scope, schedule, and budget
  • Knowledge of construction contracts, processes, and public-sector environments
  • Strong communication, coordination, and organizational skills
  • Ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously
  • Ability to work full-time on-site in Los Angeles


Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience working on educational or public-sector construction programs
  • Experience with sustainability initiatives, LEED, CHPS, or green building practices
  • Experience utilizing Building Information Modeling (BIM)
  • Experience with alternative delivery methods
  • Experience with web-based project management systems
  • Experience with Division of the State Architect (DSA) processes or similar
  • Professional certifications such as CCM, PE, or Architect license
