Legal Assistant – Finance Practice
Detroit- Southfield | Hybrid | Direct Hire
A well‑established law firm with a strong national presence is seeking a Legal Assistant to support its Finance practice. This role is ideal for someone who thrives in a fast‑paced transactional environment and enjoys being deeply involved in document preparation, closing coordination, and attorney support. The position offers meaningful responsibility, direct interaction with attorneys, and the opportunity to contribute to complex finance and transactional matters.
Key Responsibilities
- Provide proactive administrative and legal support to attorneys handling finance and transactional work.
- Edit, proofread, and format complex legal documents with a high level of accuracy.
- Review, track, and organize signature pages and closing materials.
- Assist with compiling closing binders and coordinating documents needed for transaction completion.
- Communicate professionally with attorneys, clients, and internal teams regarding project status and deadlines.
- Manage calendars, deadlines, CLE tracking, time entry, reimbursements, and other administrative tasks.
- Maintain organized electronic and physical files in accordance with firm protocols.
- Prioritize incoming requests and manage multiple time‑sensitive projects simultaneously.
- Support billing and timekeeping processes as needed.
What We’re Looking For
- 2+ years of experience as a Legal Assistant, ideally within finance, corporate, real estate, or another transactional practice.
- Strong editing, proofreading, and document‑management skills.
- High attention to detail and comfort working with numbers and transaction checklists.
- Ability to manage competing priorities with urgency and professionalism.
- Strong communication skills and the ability to work collaboratively with attorneys and staff.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office and comfort learning new software systems.
