About the Role

We are looking for a Payroll Staff Accountant with 3+ years of payroll experience to support payroll operations for a multi‑state employee population of approximately 500–600 non‑exempt staff. This role plays a key part in ensuring accurate compensation, maintaining financial integrity, and supporting internal reporting needs.

You’ll work closely with both payroll and accounting teams, contributing to month‑end processes, reconciliations, audits, and special projects. This is a great fit for someone who is detail‑oriented, analytical, and thrives in a fast‑paced, team‑focused environment.

What You’ll Do

  • Prepare accounting records and financial reports to ensure accuracy and compliance with departmental standards
  • Maintain the general ledger and complete month‑end balance sheet reconciliations
  • Perform bank statement reconciliations
  • Assist with payroll budget creation and monthly budget‑to‑actual reporting
  • Calculate special payroll items, including commissions
  • Support special projects and departmental initiatives
  • Back up payroll processing, including compiling and entering data, submitting bi‑weekly and semi‑monthly payroll files, and coordinating funding requests
  • Generate internal management reports using payroll software (ADP)
  • Assist or lead in audits such as 401(k), Workers’ Compensation, and Payroll Tax

What You Bring

  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field; or 3–4 years of relevant experience
  • 3+ years of payroll experience, ideally in a multi‑state environment
  • Hands‑on experience with payroll systems such as ADP, Paycor, or Ultipro (ADP Time & Attendance and Workforce Now preferred)
  • Strong understanding of deductions, benefits, and payroll tax processes
  • Practical knowledge of accounting principles and Microsoft Office (Excel & Word)
  • Experience with commission calculations
  • High attention to detail and ability to manage large volumes of data
  • Strong communication skills and commitment to confidentiality
  • Ability to prioritize and meet deadlines in a high‑demand environment

Why You’ll Love Working Here

  • Hybrid schedule with flexibility
  • Growing company with opportunities to expand your skills
  • Supportive, collaborative team environment
  • Strong benefits package
  • Stability, structure, and a culture that values accuracy and integrity
