Our client is a construction management firm supporting a large-scale aviation terminal modernization program in Los Angeles. They are seeking a Construction Manager III to support major terminal reconstruction and renovation work within an active, operating transportation facility. This role supports complex phased demolition, reconstruction, and fit-out activities in a highly regulated environment where safety, operational continuity, and stakeholder coordination are critical. The Construction Manager III works closely with the Design/Builder, operations teams, and multiple stakeholders to ensure construction activities are delivered safely, on schedule, and in compliance with client standards. This is a full-time, 100% on-site role in Los Angeles.Key Responsibilities
- Manage and coordinate on-site construction activities performed by the Design/Builder
- Serve as the liaison for pre-construction and construction activities within an active terminal environment
- Enforce safety, security, quality, and environmental standards across all work areas
- Manage construction scope, cost, schedule, and operational interfaces
- Ensure work aligns with approved phasing plans, work plans, and shutdown requests
- Monitor contractor staffing, materials, equipment, and sequencing
- Coordinate with operations, design teams, trade partners, and client representatives
- Identify risks and implement mitigation strategies to avoid operational impacts
- Review and negotiate contractor Potential Change Orders (PCOs)
- Support testing, commissioning, and turnover planning
- Prepare construction progress reports and brief senior stakeholders
- Participate in coordination meetings with project and operations teams
MANDATORY REQUIREMENTS
(Applicants must meet ALL of the following)Experience
- Minimum 10 years of professional construction management experience
- Experience managing construction within an active, operating facility
- Experience on large-scale capital projects valued at $100M+
- Experience across the full construction lifecycle (pre-construction through closeout)
Education
- Bachelor’s degree in Architecture, Engineering, Construction Management, Aviation, Business, Planning, or a related field
Availability
- Ability to work 100% on-site in Los Angeles
- Willingness to support after-hours and weekend work as required
Preferred Qualifications (Not mandatory)
- Experience on aviation, transportation, or infrastructure projects
- Experience with Design-Build or CM-at-Risk delivery models
- Familiarity with PMIS platforms (e.g., PMWeb or similar)
- Professional certifications such as PMP, PE, LEED, or equivalent
Required Skills
- Leadership in complex, safety-critical environments
- Strong schedule, cost, and change management capability
- Stakeholder coordination in operational facilities
- Clear written and verbal communication
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office and Bluebeam
