Southfield, MI | Direct Hire | Hybrid

About the Opportunity

RIM Recruitment Professionals is partnering with a well‑established and growing firm in the Southfield, MI area to add an experienced Trusts & Estates Paralegal to their Private Client team. This role supports a busy practice handling estate and trust administration, tax‑related filings, and client communication. The firm offers a hybrid work schedule, strong benefits package and a professional, collaborative environment.

Key Responsibilities

  • Assist with the collection, distribution, reporting, and transfer of estate assets
  • Prepare inventories, asset schedules, and related documentation for estate and trust administrations
  • Draft and e‑file probate pleadings, trust administration documents, and accounting filings
  • Prepare state and federal fiduciary income tax returns, estate tax returns, and gift tax returns (with attorney or accountant supervision)
  • Monitor filing deadlines, case schedules, and proactively alert attorneys to upcoming requirements
  • Communicate with attorneys, clients, and team members regarding case status and next steps
  • Edit and proofread documents for accuracy and compliance with federal and state laws and local rules
  • Serve as liaison between attorneys and clients throughout the administration process
  • Utilize specialized estate and trust administration software and tax preparation tools
  • Enter, review, and correct time entries in a timely manner

Qualifications

  • 5+ years of experience in Michigan estate and trust administration
  • Formal paralegal training from an accredited or ABA‑approved program (four‑year degree preferred)
  • Strong knowledge of Michigan probate rules, trust administration procedures, and e‑filing systems
  • Experience preparing federal estate, gift, and fiduciary income tax returns preferred
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite
  • Exceptional attention to detail and strong critical‑thinking skills
  • Ability to manage multiple matters simultaneously and prioritize effectively
  • Strong analytical and organizational skills
  • Sound judgment with the ability to identify and escalate issues appropriately
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality and adapt to competing priorities
