About the Opportunity:
Our client is a construction management firm supporting a large K-12 capital improvement and facilities modernization program in Los Angeles. They are seeking a Project Cost Estimator to support owner-side cost estimating, change order evaluation, and price negotiations across active construction projects. This role focuses on developing independent cost estimates to support negotiations, claims analysis, and cost validation for formal construction and JOC-managed work. This is a full-time, on-site role within a regulated public-sector environment.
Key Responsibilities:
Prepare preliminary and final independent detailed cost estimates for construction and change orders
Develop cost estimates based on drawings, specifications, sketches, and square footage takeoffs
Support price negotiations and provide cost validation
Prepare claim analyses and supporting cost documentation
Review contractor claims and proposals for accuracy, merit, and accountability
Compare independent estimates to contractor proposals and identify variances
Develop scopes of work based on RFIs/RFCs and estimate costs independently of contractor submissions
Utilize standard estimating data, tools, and cost references
Perform related estimating and cost analysis duties as assigned
MANDATORY REQUIREMENTS:

Minimum 7 years of full-time professional experience in construction cost estimating
Experience estimating all construction divisions for facilities or school building projects
Strong knowledge of local labor and material pricing
Extensive experience developing and estimating change order scopes
Bachelor’s degree in Architecture, Engineering, or Construction Management
Ability to work on-site full time in Los Angeles
