Client Service Specialist – Employee Benefits
Location: Rochester, NY
Position Overview
We are seeking a Client Service Specialist to provide administrative and operational support to an employee benefits account management team. This role focuses on processing, documentation, coordination, and responding to routine client, employee, and carrier requests. The ideal candidate is detail-oriented, organized, and comfortable handling multiple administrative tasks in a professional services environment.
Key Responsibilities
- Provide day-to-day administrative support to the account management team
- Respond to basic client, employee, and insurance carrier inquiries; escalate issues when needed
- Assist with employee claims follow-up and documentation
- Process benefit enrollments and changes with insurance carriers
- Administer COBRA enrollments and participant records
- Review and organize incoming and outgoing client and carrier paperwork
- Support billing, payment reviews, and reporting tasks as requested
- Assist with RFP preparation by collecting data, completing templates, and summarizing information
- Support renewal preparation by assisting with benefit guides, presentations, and enrollment materials
- Review benefit summaries and SBCs for accuracy and completeness
- Perform other administrative duties as needed
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree or equivalent work experience
- Life, Accident & Health Insurance License required within 6 months of hire (training and exam covered)
- Strong administrative, organizational, and time management skills
- Customer service mindset with professional communication skills
- Ability to manage multiple tasks and meet deadlines
- Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and Office 365
Preferred Qualifications
- Prior administrative or client service experience in employee benefits or insurance
- Experience working with insurance carriers and benefit platforms
- Bilingual in Spanish a plus
- Detail-oriented, dependable, and positive team player
