Job Description

Bookkeeper Part Time (20 hours per week)
Hybrid

We are seeking a part time Bookkeeper for one of our home health care clients in New Haven county. Responsibilities include maintaining accurate financial records and supporting the day-to-day financial operations.
The Bookkeeper works closely with the owner of the company, Human Resources and Operations.

Key Responsibilities
Financial & Accounting Duties
Maintain accurate and up-to-date financial records
Record and reconcile all financial transactions, including income, expenses, and deposits
Perform monthly bank and credit card reconciliations
Prepare financial reports as requested (profit & loss, cash flow, expense summaries)
Maintain organized and audit-ready financial files and documentation
Accounts Payable & Receivable
Process vendor invoices and ensure timely payments
Track outstanding receivables and follow up on unpaid balances
Reconcile client billing with received payments
Maintain accurate vendor and client financial records
Compliance & Coordination
Support compliance with federal, state, and Connecticut labor and wage laws
Coordinate with external accountants, payroll providers, and tax professionals
Assist with audits, reporting requests, and financial reviews
Maintain confidentiality of all financial, employee, and client information

Qualifications & Skills
Required Qualifications
Proven experience as a Bookkeeper or in a similar accounting role
Strong understanding of payroll processing and basic accounting principles
Proficiency in accounting and payroll software (e.g., QuickBooks, ADP, Paychex, or similar)
High attention to detail and accuracy
Strong organizational and time-management skills
Ability to maintain confidentiality and professionalism at all times

Preferred Qualifications
Experience in healthcare, home care, or service-based industries a plus
Familiarity with Connecticut wage and hour regulations
Associate degree or coursework in Accounting, Finance, or related field
Experience working with external accountants or tax professionals
Payroll experience is a plus

Up to $28/hour depending on experience
