About the Opportunity:

Our client is a construction management firm supporting a large institutional facilities modernization program in Los Angeles. They are seeking an Interior Designer to support the delivery of major K-12 and public infrastructure projects, working closely with architects, engineers, and facilities teams to ensure interiors meet functional, regulatory, and educational standards.

This is a full-time, on-site role within a high-profile public-sector capital program.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Develop and coordinate interior design packages for educational and institutional facilities
  • Prepare interior layouts, finish plans, and space programming documents
  • Select and specify interior materials, fixtures, furniture, and equipment
  • Ensure designs meet educational, accessibility, safety, and code requirements
  • Coordinate with architects, engineers, and construction managers
  • Review submittals, shop drawings, and interior-related change requests
  • Support value engineering, constructability, and cost control efforts
  • Participate in design reviews and stakeholder meetings
  • Ensure documentation is complete, coordinated, and ready for construction

MANDATORY REQUIREMENTS:

  • Minimum 8 years of professional experience in interior design for institutional, educational, or public-sector facilities
  • Bachelor’s degree in Interior Design, Architecture, or a related field
  • Experience working on large-scale, multi-user facilities
  • Ability to work on-site full time in Los Angeles

Preferred Qualifications (Not mandatory)

  • Experience supporting K-12 school facilities
  • Experience working on public-sector or government-funded projects
  • NCIDQ certification or equivalent

Required Skills:

  • Strong space planning, finishes, and interior systems expertise
  • Knowledge of accessibility (ADA), life-safety, and educational facility standards
  • Ability to coordinate with architects, engineers, and construction teams
  • Strong documentation and specification skills
  • Excellent communication and organization skills
