We are looking for an experienced VDI Support Specialist to support, administer, and enhance a virtual desktop environment. This role centers on the management and optimization of Citrix Virtual Apps and Desktops, ensuring reliable performance, security, and standardization across virtual platforms. The successful candidate will bring strong technical expertise in VDI, a hands-on approach to troubleshooting, and the ability to collaborate with multiple IT teams to support business needs.
VDI Architecture and Support: Contribute to the design, implementation, and ongoing support of the virtual desktop environment, ensuring stability, security, and scalability.
Citrix Administration: Manage and maintain multiple virtual images within Citrix Virtual Apps and Desktops, including image updates, performance tuning, and deployment of security patches.
Cross-Team Coordination: Partner with IT Support and Application teams to coordinate application installations, upgrades, and environment optimizations.
Image Management and Enhancements: Proactively assess virtual images and independently recommend and implement changes to improve security posture, performance, feature availability, and standardization.
Release and Upgrade Execution: Plan and carry out virtual image upgrades across development, test, and production environments while minimizing operational impact.
Change Control: Document, communicate, track, and publish all image changes and updates in alignment with established change management practices.
Tier 2 Support: Serve as a Tier 2 escalation point for virtual desktop and VDI-related issues, providing timely diagnosis and resolution.
Knowledge Transfer: Create technical documentation and deliver training sessions to the IT Support team to improve troubleshooting efficiency and environment awareness.
Standards Compliance: Follow established standards and best practices while identifying opportunities for continuous process improvement.
Ongoing Optimization: Research and implement new tools, techniques, and approaches to enhance the efficiency, reliability, and security of the VDI environment.
Bachelor’s degree in Information Technology or a related discipline, or equivalent professional experience.
Demonstrated hands-on experience with Citrix Virtual Apps and Desktops, including administration, design, and operational support.
Strong understanding of VDI technologies, virtual image lifecycle management, and industry best practices.
Experience with virtualization platforms such as VMware, Hyper-V, or similar technologies is preferred.
Advanced troubleshooting skills with a proactive, solution-oriented mindset.
Ability to work autonomously while balancing multiple initiatives and priorities.
Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively across technical teams.
