Job Description
We are seeking a hands-on Process Engineer to support, optimize, and continuously improve operations within a Food & Beverage manufacturing environment. This role requires a strong background in PLC-controlled equipment, process optimization, and sanitation-driven production systems. The ideal candidate will be comfortable spending time on the production floor, troubleshooting equipment and processes, and training operators and maintenance teams to ensure consistent quality, safety, and efficiency.
Responsibilities
Optimize and support food and beverage manufacturing processes to improve throughput, yield, quality, and equipment reliability.
Work directly on the production floor troubleshooting process, equipment, and automation issues.
Support and diagnose PLC-controlled systems, including I/O troubleshooting, HMIs, and coordination of programming changes with controls or engineering teams.
Lead and support continuous improvement initiatives (downtime reduction, waste reduction, process standardization).
Develop, document, and improve SOPs, work instructions, and process controls aligned with food safety and quality standards.
Train and mentor operators, technicians, and maintenance personnel on equipment operation, process controls, and PLC-related systems.
Partner closely with Maintenance, QA, Sanitation, and Operations teams to support safe, compliant production.
Support root cause analysis and corrective actions for quality, safety, and equipment issues.
Ensure compliance with food safety regulations, GMPs, HACCP, OSHA, and company policies.
Maintain accurate process documentation and change records.
Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree in Engineering (Chemical, Mechanical, Electrical, Industrial, Manufacturing, or related field) or equivalent hands-on experience.
Proven experience as a Process Engineer in Food & Beverage manufacturing.
Strong working knowledge of PLC-controlled production equipment.
Hands-on experience with electrical, mechanical, and automated systems.
Experience working in GMP, HACCP, and sanitation-driven environments.
Demonstrated ability to train and coach production and maintenance teams.
Comfortable being on the production floor and actively involved in troubleshooting.
Strong analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills.
Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced manufacturing environment.
Preferred Experience
Experience with high-speed production or packaging lines.
Familiarity with CIP/SIP systems, fillers, conveyors, and automated packaging equipment.
Continuous improvement experience (Lean, Six Sigma, or similar).
