Job Title: Chief Estimator – Structural Steel
Department: 9 – Estimating
Location: Pleasanton, CA preferred, 
Pay Range: $150K – $200/yr.; negotiable DOE & Location

Who you are
We are seeking a proactive leader responsible for overseeing and managing all aspects of the
bid/estimating process from review of project documents and plans through submission. You will be responsible for developing accurate and competitive cost estimates for bids, managing team
members, and ensuring projects stay within budget and timeline. The ideal candidate will have the ability to identify all scope items and requirements from both project drawings and standard details. Your primary goal is to produce accurate estimates and value driven bids with
required level of quality and customer satisfaction.

You have:
▪ Bachelor’s Degree preferably in Construction Management or Engineering, or equivalent
work experience
▪ Minimum 10 years of estimating experience in the construction industry; must understand
commercial construction & estimating processes
▪ At least 3 years’ experience in a management role
▪ Strong problem-solving, leadership and management skills
▪ Strong interpersonal and communication skills with the ability to effectively function in a
team environment
▪ Excellent time management skills, ability to work on multiple projects and be a self-starter
▪ Outstanding attention to detail
▪ Thorough understanding of construction bid process, including the ability to read & interpret
contract documents
▪ Excellent computer skills; must be proficient in Microsoft Excel, Word and Bluebeam
▪ Familiarity with software such as Revit Structures, Tekla Structures & AutoCAD preferred
▪ Knowledge working with scheduling software, i.e. Microsoft Project, Primavera, etc.
▪ Experience with estimating software, i.e. Bluebeam, On-Screen Takeoff, ProEst, Planswift,
etc. is preferred

What you’ll be doing

As a Chief Estimator, you’ll:

  1. Manage and lead a team of estimators to ensure accurate and timely estimation of project

costs.

  1. Review and analyze project plans and specifications to create detailed and accurate project

cost estimates.

  1. Work closely with project managers and other stakeholders to ensure successful bid

proposals and accurate project cost forecasting.

  1. Coordinate with other departments to seamlessly transition from pre-construction to

construction phases.

  1. Develop and maintain relationships with key suppliers, subcontractors, and vendors to

ensure competitive pricing and availability of materials.

  1. Oversee the development and implementation of estimating tools and processes.
  2. Provide guidance and direction to the estimating team regarding bidding strategies and

techniques.

  1. Train and mentor estimators on emerging technologies, trends, and best practices.
  2. Attend pre-bid meetings and site visits as necessary to ensure accurate project cost

estimates.

  1. Ensure compliance with all company policies, procedures, and safety standards.
  2. Performs miscellaneous job-related duties as assigned.

You have options! You can work from our fun, commuter friendly Pleasanton, CA headquarters or one of our satellite office in Oakland. Our hybrid environment allows for remote work 1 – 2 days per week.
