Senior Accountant – Architecture & Design Firm
Anchorage OR Wasilla, Alaska | Full-Time Hybrid
About the Role
A long-standing architecture and design firm is seeking a Senior Accountant to lead day-to-day financial operations. This position manages full-cycle accounting, project cost tracking, payroll, benefits, and financial reporting. Ideal candidates bring strong experience in Deltek and are familiar with the architecture, engineering, or other project-based industries.
Key Responsibilities
Manage the full accounting cycle: GL reconciliation, journal entries, accruals, and closings
Prepare monthly financial statements and project/job cost reports (P&L, WIP)
Oversee payroll, payroll taxes, W-2s, 1099s, and multi-state compliance
Administer 401(k), health benefits, and insurance renewals
Supervise AP/AR, client invoicing, collections, and revenue recognition
Support audits, tax filings, and annual regulatory reports
Mentor accounting staff and implement process improvements
Provide financial insights to support leadership decisions
Qualifications
Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field (CPA/MBA a plus)
10+ years of accounting experience, preferably in architecture, engineering, or consulting
Strong understanding of job cost accounting and WIP reporting
Hands-on experience with Deltek (required)
Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and financial modeling
Excellent organizational, communication, and leadership skills
