Job Title: Facility Technician
Position Summary:
The Facility Technician is responsible for performing a wide range of maintenance and repair duties across electrical, mechanical, plumbing, and general facility systems. This role supports the safe and efficient operation of equipment and infrastructure through preventative maintenance, troubleshooting, and hands-on repair work.
Key Responsibilities:
- Perform preventative maintenance and general repairs on facility equipment and systems.
- Troubleshoot and repair electrical (low and high voltage), mechanical, plumbing, and hydraulic systems.
- Assist with electrical installations and piping; basic HVAC experience is a plus.
- Weld and fabricate using a variety of techniques, including sanitary stainless-steel welding.
- Maintain and repair lighting systems (LED, fluorescent) and Variable Frequency Drives (VFDs).
- Use appropriate tools and safety practices when working with electrical and mechanical systems.
- Operate industrial shop tools and equipment safely and effectively.
- Coordinate with internal teams and external contractors to support facility projects or upgrades.
- Maintain a clean, organized, and safe working environment in compliance with OSHA and company safety standards.
- Complete required documentation and electronic logs accurately and on time.
- Promote teamwork and maintain professional communication with colleagues and leadership.
Required Qualifications:
- Stainless Steel Sanitation, PLUS
- Food Industry experience is critical
- Minimum of 5 years of industrial maintenance experience OR completion of a 2-year technical training program in a related field.
- Proficient in welding, cutting, and metal fabrication techniques.
- Strong knowledge of facility systems including electrical, plumbing, and mechanical.
- Familiarity with VFDs and the ability to troubleshoot and adjust as needed.
- Ability to safely recognize electrical hazards and use proper testing tools and PPE.
- Must possess or be able to obtain certification to operate powered industrial trucks.
- Strong problem-solving and decision-making skills.
- Basic computer and documentation skills.
- Must supply own tools for general maintenance work.
Work Environment & Physical Requirements:
- Regular exposure to industrial environments, including noise, dust, heat, humidity, and varying weather conditions.
- Role may require frequent standing, bending, kneeling, lifting (up to 50 lbs), and working in awkward or confined positions.
- Must be comfortable working in both indoor and outdoor facility settings.
