Job Title: Tax Strategist / Tax Consultant
Location: Remote – Open to candidates across the United States
Employment Type: Full-time, Permanent
Compensation: $80,000 – $120,000 USD (flexible based on experience)
Our client is a fast-growing tax advisory firm that partners with entrepreneurial small business owners—such as lawyers, consultants, real estate professionals, and engineers—typically earning between $250K and $6M annually. The firm delivers high-impact tax planning and strategy, helping clients proactively manage their tax position and achieve their personal and business financial goals.
This is not a traditional tax prep role. It’s a hands-on, strategic advisory position for someone who thrives in a dynamic, client-facing environment and wants to make a lasting impact.
The Tax Strategist / Tax Consultant will be responsible for designing and implementing innovative tax strategies that reduce liabilities and build wealth for a diverse client base. You will collaborate closely with clients and internal teams to ensure seamless execution of tax planning and compliance efforts.
Develop and implement proactive tax strategies tailored to each client’s business and personal goals
Advise clients on structuring, deductions, credits, and overall tax optimization
Interpret complex tax rules and communicate them in plain, accessible language
Guide clients through planning, implementation, and compliance processes
Collaborate with internal teams, financial advisors, and vendors as needed
Stay up to date on evolving tax laws, regulations, and best practices
Represent clients in audits and liaise with tax authorities where applicable
Support and mentor colleagues, contributing to a culture of knowledge sharing and growth
Active CPA (Certified Public Accountant) license or IRS Enrolled Agent (EA) designation (required)
A minimum of 5 years of experience in tax strategy, planning, and compliance
Proven success in developing and executing effective tax strategies for small business clients
Experience working with entrepreneurial or owner-operated businesses
Ability to analyze complex financial data and apply relevant tax regulations
Comfortable working with non-traditional or less structured books and records
Excellent verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to build client trust
Proficiency in tax software and technology-driven accounting solutions
Strong time management skills and ability to thrive in a fully remote environment
A proactive, independent, and solutions-oriented mindset
Experience with client bases in industries such as professional services, real estate, law, or consulting
Managerial or supervisory experience in a CPA or tax advisory context is an asset
Background in mentoring or managing junior staff or cross-functional teams
Prior exposure to audit processes and representing clients before tax authorities
