Position: Quality Control Microbiologist

Job Summary:
The Quality Control Microbiologist supports laboratory operations by performing microbiological testing to detect and identify microorganisms in products, materials, and the manufacturing environment. This role ensures compliance with quality and regulatory standards through accurate testing and documentation.

Supervisory Responsibilities:
• None

Key Responsibilities:
  • Prepare samples, reagents, and media for microbiological testing.
  • Conduct testing using aseptic techniques, plating, gram staining, and microbial monitoring.
  • Operate, calibrate, and maintain laboratory equipment.
  • Record and report results accurately, following standard procedures.
  • Contribute to team-based lab work and collaborate with other departments as needed.

Required Skills & Qualifications:
  • Working knowledge of microbiological lab techniques.
  • Familiarity with Good Manufacturing Practices (GMPs), SOPs, and quality control systems.
  • Ability to follow written procedures and maintain clear, accurate documentation.
  • Strong attention to detail and time management skills.
  • Effective communication and collaboration abilities.
  • Basic understanding of quality processes, including deviations, CAPAs, and change control.

Education and Experience:
  • Bachelor’s degree in Microbiology, Biology, or a related scientific field, or equivalent laboratory experience.
  • Minimum 2 years of experience in a microbiology laboratory (academic, pharmaceutical, food science, or similar setting).
  • Proficiency with basic computer applications (e.g., Microsoft Office Suite).

Physical Requirements:
  • Ability to lift up to 50 lbs as needed.
  • Ability to sit, stand, or walk for extended periods during the workday.
